All that is gold does not
glitter, and while I’m still not certain that UFC Auckland was
gold, it certainly delivered more action than most in the MMA
community expected (including us). This week on Heavy Hands, your
hosts are breaking down the most worthwhile bits of action, from
Alexander Volkanovski’s contender-making win over a very tough and
crafty Mizuto Hirota, to Mark Hunt’s intelligent victory over
powerhouse Derrick Lewis.
After that, it’s on to UFC
Singapore, main evented by Holly Holm and Bethe Correia. This
stands to be a more competitive fight than you might think, and
with former lightweight champion Raphael Dos Anjos also making his
welterweight debut on the main card, UFC Singapore has the makings
of another under-the-radar action card.
Finally, questions from
our lovely listeners! We talk about the worst opinions in both
casual and hardcore MMA fandom, the metagame of fight preparation,
and fighters who seem to break all the rules without
consequence.
